Intro to Baking with Executive Pastry Chef Selina Boykova

Please join us in welcoming Executive Pastry Chef Selina Boykova to the Salem Gnu Kitchen family! This will be a 2 hour introductory demonstration to baking, and here is what to expect:


-Importance of proper measuring: Volume vs Weight (ounces vs grams)

-Primary ingredients and what they do:

         -Butter, sugar, flours, leaveners

-Mixing methods: Creaming, biscuit, straight dough, two-step blending

-Baking Temperatures and proper storage

-Sample Tasting


Tickets are $40 per person. Drop-ins are $50 per person (space for drop-ins not guaranteed).

Alzheimer's Test Kitchen Series

What to expect:

Comfort food can be brain food. This class our students wanted meat loaf so we are cooking a meaty and meatless meatloaf as well as Chef Roy's mashed celery root and parsnips...look for a surprise treat as some want munchies that are brain healthy.


Tickets are $50 each. Drop-ins are $60 (space for drop-ins not guaranteed).

Introduction to Nutrition With Chef Tim Boykova

Course outline:


In this introductory nutrition/cooking-demo hybrid class participants will learn:

The basics of nutrition, including: macro-nutrients, micro-nutrients, phytochemicals, energy balance, and general recommendations for optimizing our own health.

Foundation of properly cooking vegetables; participants will learn basic knife skills, preparation, and cooking methods - participants will leave the class with the knowledge of how to prepare vegetables in a way that even the pickiest of eaters will enjoy!

The nuances of nutrition - bring your questions, and curiosity; this class will include a Q&A session regarding all things food and nutrition.

Participants will also receive, and be instructed on how to use, a bonus kitchen gadget to take home!


Tickets are $60 each and $70 for drop-ins. (First come, first served, space not guaranteed for drop-ins) We also have a couples rate of $100 per couple.

Mediterranean Salads With Chef Misha

What to expect: Great cooking is about more than just recipes - it's about great techniques! In this 3-hour class you'll work together with other students in a fun, hands-on environment led by Chef Misha.


Salad Menu:

-Kiwi, avocado, and cherry tomato

-Asparagus with Mediterranean salsa

-Cucumber salad

-Chickpea Salad


Tickets are $65 for one adult, and $120 for a couple. Drop-ins are $75 for one and $140 for couples (space for drop-ins not guaranteed).
